(P.S.: I've changed the "first boy" with "reddish-brown hair" to "Kai" because he's the main character

Prologue
The New Legend

It is a peaceful, starry night on the Destiny Islands. Young Kai, age 14, was lying on the shore. The boy had spiky reddish-brown hair, sky blue eyes, and was wearing a red shirt, red shorts,a blue belt, large yellow shoes, and a white vest with black sleeves. He listened to the calming waves as he drifted off to sleep.

In his dream, Kai saw himself standing on the shore where he was sleeping and a few feet away, he saw a young man, about the age of 18 with the same spiky hair, but brown, and a young woman, age 18 as well with long red hair. They were talking to a man who was wearing an long black cloak, with the hood closed up, so as not to see his face. The three conversed for a few moments and then the cloaked man turned around and ran. The young man and woman ran after him. Kai wanted to know what was going on and ran after them.

As they were running, Kai noticed that as the other two chasing the cloaked man began to age year by year, until they caught up with the man at the other end of the shore, the once young man and woman, now age 40, while the Kai and the man remained the same age. After a moment Kai realized, the now man and woman.... were his parents. The man turned around again to face them and swiped at them with his hand and they turned to dust and, as he saw it he turned to dust as well and the dust that his parents became and the dust that he became joined over the ocean and, as he appeared once again, he dropped into the ocean below him head first and began to sink.

He kept sinking further and further into the depths until he flipped onto his feet, and landed on something. A second later, a large flock of birds flew up from underneath his feet, revealing that he was standing on a platform which possessed a portrait of Belle and the Beast.

Chapter 1
Awakening

Kai looked around and all he saw was darkness. The only light was from the platform below, although he had no idea how it produced that light. Amidst his pondering, he heard a voice within the surrounding abyss.

It seems the time has come once again, the voice beckoned, You are now the hope of all the worlds. But to become the hero you need to be, you must train for the long, perilous ahead. Are you ready to begin.

Kai nodded, slightly worried, but confident enough to take on whatever task was put infront of him.

Very well. Step towards the light.

All of a sudden, a ray of light from above pierced the seemingly never-ending darkness. Kai did as asked and stepped forward into the light.

Good. Just as those who were in your shoes, you possess a great power within. And for the journey ahead, you must give this power form to unleash it.

A moment later, the ground below him rattled and from it arose three pedestals, each holding a different weapon. The pedestal to the left of him, a wand. The one in the center, a sword. And the one on the right, a shield. Each bore the insignia of the King of Disney Castle, Mickey Mouse.

It is time to set the path you are destined to walk. Choose wisely, for there is no turning back.

Kai took a steps forward, toward the pedestal holding the sword. He gripped the sword with his right hand and pulled it towards him.

The Power of the Warrior. Invincible courage. A sword of terrible destruction. Is this the power you wish to possess?

"Yes," Kai replied. The sword disappeared from his hand.

Now that you have chosen the power to possess, you must choose the power you wish to leave behind. As I said before, choose wisely.

Kai walked to his left towards the pedestal holding the wand. What followed was happened with the sword.

The Power of the Mystic. Inner strength. A staff of wonder and ruin. Is this power you wish to leave behind?

"Yes," Kai answered. The wand disappeared in the same fashion that the sword did.

You've chosen to possess the Power of the Warrior. You've chosen to leave behind the Power of the Mystic. Is the form you wish to give to your hidden power?

Kai nodded again. Seconds after that, the platform rattled once again, and the three pedestals disappeared back into the ground, and the platform below shattered, Kai once again falling into darkness. After falling for a minute or so, he landed on another platform, this one bearing the image of Alice, behind her the mysterious, yet beautiful landscape of Wonderland. The sword from before appeared in Kai's hand.

You have gained the power to fight. Try out your weapon.

Kai swung his sword a few times.

Good. Now that you have gained the power, it is the time to fight.

Suddenly, a small group of Shadow Heartless appeared before him.

Don't give up.

The Shadows came at him but he attacked each of them once or twice, causing them to disappear, one by one. It didn't take long to finish them off. What Kai didn't realize was that another group of Shadows formed behind him, one of which attempted to ambush him. The voice then called out to Kai:

Behind you!

Kai quickly spun around, slashing and vanquishing the attempted ambusher. He disposed of the second group of Shadows as quickly as he did the previous group. It was then that a grand door appeared before him.

What lies beyond this door is the first of three Challenges you must face to enter the final door. Are you ready for the first test.

Kai nodded and the door before him opened and he walked through. He was on yet another platform, this one bearing the image of Princess Aurora.

As I have told another before you, the closer you are to light, the greater your shadow becomes.

All of a sudden a bright ray of light shone from behind Kai, causing his shadow to grow until it was almost quadruple the size of him. Then, his shadow arose from the ground and morphed its appearance to that of a Darkside Heartless. Itreeled back its arm, and hit the ground with such force, it sent a shockwave through the platform, knocking Kai over. Kai ran over to it, soared into the air, and landed a few blows to the massive creature's head, also landing attacks on the way down. The Darkside then got on its knees and shot a dark meteor out of its chest right at Kai. He brought his sword into a blocking position and just as it approached him, he swung at it, sending it right back at the Heartless, nailing it right on, knocking the dark figure off of the platform.

Very well done. You may now move onto the second test.

Another door appeared before him and he walked through it as well, and found himself standing on a platform boasting an image of Sora with Destiny Islands, and in small to the left of him were images of his friends Riku, Kairi, Donald Duck, and Goofy.

Kai took a few steps forward, and was struck by a bright light and suddenly found himself in midair, hands and feet held in place by small orbs of light. There was a small tremor, and from below the platform appeared a white figure the size of the Darkside. It was a creature known as the Twilight Thorn.

The white creature balled up its fist and launched it at Kai, but, moments before impact, he finally struggled loose and broke free from the light binding him, hitting the large being point blank with the sword. As Kai sailed to the ground, he brought his sword down on the large white being, slicing it in two down the middle. He landed on the ground, unharmed, and the Twilight Thorn halves fell off opposite sides of the platform.

I am impressed. The one before you took a much greater amount of time to pass this test. Now we move on to the final phase of your training. This is, as they say, "all or nothing." Are you ready to begin the final test?

Kai gave a stern nod. A grand double-door appeared before him, the left door emblazoned with the symbol of the Heartless, the right with the insignia of the Nobodies. Kai took a few steps towards the door and pushed it open with all his might. He found himself, once again, on another platform. However, this one struck Kai the most. It showed an image of Sora, mid-battle against all of the members of Organization XIII, except for Axel and Roxas. Standing next to Sora, primed to fight, were his best friend Riku to his left, and King Mickey to his right.

Kai felt a great tremor, increasing in strength by every moment. after a few moments, both the Darkside and the Twilight Thorn, whole once again, appeared before him. Twilight Thorn stood behind Darkside as the two brought out their arms and joined together in a brief flash of light and a brief moment of darkness.

As both faded, a man, dressed in an elegant white suit with long black hair,and a blue scarf, appeared before him. He was holding a staff, the end facing upward held the Heartless insignia, and the end facing down held the Nobody insignia. The Man darted towards Kai, primed to attack with his staff. Kai blocked the strike with his sword, but the man flipped the staff, knocking Kai into the air. He then pointed the Nobody side of the staff at the airborne Kai. It extended into the air, wrapping around Kai, pulling him to the ground. He then held the Heartless end in the air, causing dark meteors to rain down upon Kai, further injuring him. Kai, ever vigilant, stood up and ran at the warrior, with a look of unspeakable rage on his face. Just as he sent the Nobody side to attack him , Kai jumped right over it, ran all the way along the staff, and landed a slash to the man's chest. Kai then flipped over him and, somehow, sent a beam of light out of his sword, piercing through his opponent's. The man fell to the ground. However, just as he impacted, he disappeared.

Young man, you are indeed the hero meant to save the worlds from impending doom. You have completed all of the tests set before. Your training is over. So, I wish you the best of luck in your journeys and your battles ahead. Farewell

One final door appeared before Kai. This door was engraved with a hollowed out heart, in the center of which was a three-pronged crown. Kai bolted to the door, excitedly, pushed it open, and ran into the bright light on the other side.

Well done! I like the general plot, there are a few sentences that have bad grammar in, and need re-writing, and a few sentences that don't really fit the story, such as ;

"... boasting an image of Sora ..."

Considering it's his father, wouldn't it be a bit weird for him to call him Sora? You tell the story from the point of "Kai", so that really should say dad, as to fit in with the rest of the narrative.

Other than that, I say good job!

Okay, guys, here it is. I would like to apologize in advance due to me having absolutely having no time on my hands. Anyways, here it is.

Kingdom Hearts: The New Legend
Chapter 2
Destiny Islands: Day One

As Kai was experiencing the beginning of the greatest journey in his dreams, he was blissfully sleeping the day away. Him being asleep, he didn't realize that he was being snuck up on by not 1, but 2 people. As he turned on his side, he was awoken from his sleep by an aburpt cry:

"HEARTLESS!!"

Kai shot up, grabbed the wooden sword next to him, and started swinging wildly.

"Get back," he called, eyes closed, "Get back, you creeps."

He kept swinging until, the shot ricocheted of something and hit him in the head. He cried out in pain, and started rubbing his forehead. He then heard chuckling from behind him. He opened his eyes and saw the two jokers.

One of the two was his closest friend, Striker, age 15. Striker had long light brown hair and turquoise eyes. He was wearing a yellow muscle shirt with black trim and a black X across the chest, black gloves, blue jeans, and white shoes with blue trim and laces.

The other was his own twin sister, Sara. She had the same colour hair as Kai, only long and flowing. She also shared her eye color with her brother, mother, and father. She was wearing a pink sundress with white straps and white sandals.

While Striker and Sara were amused by the incident, Kai was not so impressed.

"You think you guys are funny, do ya," Kai said with a smirk on his face.

Kai ran at Striker, sword in hand, made a swing, but Striker dodged and started running down the beach. Kai was soon in tow, with Sara not too far behind Kai. It was if they were their parents as they had raced down that very same beach many years ago.

A little later that day, the three all met around the tree that they, and their parents before them, hung out. They chatted for a few minutes and then remembered something: their parents were making lunch for the three of them and they asked the three to pick up some ingredients.

"Oh, man," Striker said, "I completely forgot about lunch. We gotta get that stuff."

"Bingo," Kai replied, "What do we need?"

"Let's see," Sara wondered as she pulled the ingredient list out of her pocket.

"A carton of eggs, 2 packages of mushrooms, 3 cans of coconut milk, 7 salmon filets, two large bottles of sparkling juice and one box of sea-salt ice cream.."

"Uh...," Kai pondered, "How are we supposed to pay for that?"

Striker reached into his pocket and pulled out a fairly large pouch of munny.

"With this," Striker pointed out.

Kai whistled as he saw the size of the pouch.

"Alright," Kai said, "Let's get going."

As the three reached the market, they came up with a plan to get the ingredients.

"Split up," Kai commanded, "Striker, get the eggs and mushrooms, sis, get the drinks and milk, I'll get the fish and ice cream. Go!!!"

The three scrambled across the market, baskets in hand, grabbing the first of each ingredient there. After Kai got the ice cream, he quickly went over to the fresh fish area.

"Hey Kai," the worker, Sal greeted, "What can I get ya?"

"Hey, Sal," Kai greeted back, "Can I get 7 salmon filets?"

"Sure thing," Sal smiled.

Sal wrapped up the filets for him, handed it to him, and Kai was off.

"Thanks, Sal," Kai called as he turned around.

"Anytime," Sal called back.

As the three finally had the ingredients, they met back at checkout, paid for the ingredients, and headed back to Kai's. As the three walked into the backyard, they were greeted by Kai's parents, Sora and Kairi.

Sora, now age 40, had changed a fair bit physically, being about a foot taller than he was and a bit more muscular, but had the same heart and spirit he did when he was Kai's age. His hair was a little bit longer, but balanced out by being even spikier. He had on a navy blue t-shirt, black short-sleeved hoodie undone, faded black jeans, and black runners.

Kairi was virtually unchanged by the sands of time. A bit longer hair and an inch or two taller. She was wearing a white sleeveless tee, a lavender knee-length skirt, and lavender sandals.

"Hey, guys," Sora friendily greeted the three.

"Hey mom, hey pop," Kai greeted them.

"Hi, mom, hi dad," Sara said hello.

"Sora, Kairi," Striker saluted the two as well.

"Hi, Striker," Sora and Kairi welcomed him.

"Where are my parents," Striker asked Sora and Kairi.

"Over here," called 2 voices off to the right.

Kai followed the sound of the voice to his father, Riku and his mother, Selphie.

Out of Sora, Riku, and Kairi, Riku had changed the most. His hair was down to mid-back, he had grown almost a foot, and his voice deepened a bit further. He was wearing a white t-shirt and faded black jeans.

Selphie also did not change much over the years, except for hair length. She was wearing a yellow t-shirt, and a knee-high black skirt.

Striker saw his parents and walked over to them. Kai handed over the ingredients to his mother and the salmon to his father.

"Thanks," Sora thanked them, "I'm glad you guys didn't forget like last time."

"Well," Kai paused, "We.... almost forgot. Thank goodness we remembered at the last second though."

"Got that right," his father replied, "If you did, we wouldn't be having lunch right now.

Everyone laughed.

------------

After lunch, the three headed over to the tree that they, and their parents before them, usually hung out. They were there for hours, talking, laughing, but mostly wondering, that which was started by Kai asking one question.

"Hey guys," Kai pondered, "Our parents got their Keyblades when they were about our age, right?"

Both Striker and Sara nodded their heads, agreeing with what Kai had asked.

"So," Kai continued, "Why don't we have our Keyblades yet?"

"I have absolutely no idea," Striker replied cluelessly.

"Me neither," Sara added.

"Maybe it's just not time," Kai answered, "Maybe we won't get our Keyblades until the worlds are in danger, or something, and we need to save it. Let's just forget it for now."

"Yeah," Striker agreed, "And we should get going. It's getting late."

"Sounds good," Kai replied.

The three got off the tree and Striker and Sara passed Kai, not noticing that he threw a coconut at the other tree knocking a paopu fruit off of it.

"Hey, Striker," Kai called, "I've got something for you."

Striker stopped walking for a moment and turned around. Kai then threw the paopu fruit at him.

"Uh... Kai," Striker asked him, "Why'd you give me a paopu fruit?"

"You know why," Kai mocked, with a smirk on his face again, "I saw the way you've been looking at my sister."

"I don't know what you're talkin' about," Striker replied, starting to blush.

"You know what I'm talkin' about," Kai smiled, "And I figured, "Eating a paopu fruit got my parents together, it can get you and my sis together too." And as you know, if two people share one, "their destinies become intertwined." Besides, if Sara shares the fruit with you, she falls in love with you, she gets married, she moves out."

"Whoa, dude," Striker paused, "Like I just said, I don't like your sister. She's my friend."

Striker passed the fruit back to Kai, turned around and started walking away, smile on his face hidden from Kai.

"Whatever," Kai joked as he threw the fruit over his shoulder and caught up to Striker. The two then raced back to their houses.
