Technicolor Acid - Beauty in Violence
![]() Backstory: No one really remembers when the first attack hit. Everything is criticized, even the source of the confusion. Most people recall being somewhere very normal, a job, a store, asleep, ect. Then either upon waking up or being effected by it, ended up somewhere far different. 12/21/12 "The Beautiful Catastrophe" At approximately 10:00a.m. EST the first signs of change started. From what people can recollect from the event, they were small charges linked to large sources of the toxin. A planned terrorist attack that no one would come to claim as their own. Multiple explosions ripped through the U.S. sending out an airborne bio-agent. Water systems became the main source of transportation. Soon it covered most of North America. Due to the low density of the actual particles, the blasts sent them high up into the air letting the atmosphere catch them. Within 4 days, 97% of the Earth was hit by the bio-agent. It was these four days in which most of the killing took place. KRY for me The agent was soon dubbed "KRY" for the spray paint known as Krylon. Not because of any color, but because of the effects. Euphoria, Intense Hallucination, Short Temperament, and Loss of mental stability in extreme cases. KRY effects people on anti- depressants, people with mental disabilities and people that use "uppers" the fastest. It hits the brain, changing the chemical composition. If the brain's functions are sped up or allowed to act normally, the KRY takes effect. "The Cure" The two best known suppressants for KRY are Cigarettes and Alcohol. Cigarettes cut normal oxygen flow to the brain, this simply cuts KRY off completely, but this oxygen deprivation can only last while there is nicotine in a person's body. People that use this method usually smoke a cigarette every 4-5 hours, if not even shorter spans, in order to stay alive. Alcohol slows down brain function which ends up cutting KRY off, absorbing it into the alcohol molecules and carrying them into the blood stream to be filtered through the liver and passed. People that use this usually drink at least once every 2 days. The Gifted Many people are called gifted because of simple genetic anomalies that KRY actually benefits. This does not make them immune, but it does give them an enhancement. The Eyes Most people that have better than 20/20 vision gain this trait. It merges the "worlds" of reality and KRY induced "pseudo- reality". People have been known to see motion trails from an object's or a person's movements back over a certain distance, normally known to be around 20 meters. The person must see the object or person while in motion in order to see the trail. It normally doesnt fade for around 10 seconds. A lot of movement from the object in a small area, such as a flag blowing in the wind, stops the eye from picking up the trail. This has been exploited and people sometimes use flags or capes/ cloaks/ long jackets in order to throw off the eye. The Eye darkens the person's eye pigment and slowly fades the outside edge till it becomes a deep blue leaving the brown color near the pupil. (click for example) Eavesdrop The infectious bacteria that causes earaches was also effected by KRY. The composition of the bacteria was changed on the cellular level. Although it shortly died out soon after a few days after the attack, anyone infected by it gained "Eavesdrop". The bacteria caused incredible sensations of pain, almost unbearable. But the pain was caused by the bacteria strengthening the tiny bones in the ear, giving the person highly sensitive hearing. The hearing can go as far as pinpointing someone's location, behind cover, over 50ft away, just by their breathing. Numbness For some, KRY effected the nerve endings of people. This killed off the sensations of hot, cold and pain. People with Numbness can typically withstand incredible amounts of pain, non-lethal gunshot wounds, knife wounds, ect. The person's body has also build up defenses to keep themselves safe. Around double the white blood cells people norm?ally have. This leads to less infection and sickness. Their blood also contains more platelets that help in stopping bleeding. This doesn't make them invincible, just a bit harder to kill. Rush KRY also effected people's endocrine systems. Not much is known about this gift. The only factor people can come up with to explain it has something to do with is inactive tumors in or on the adrenal glands of the person. The person's glands become overactive releasing intense amounts of adrenaline into the persons body. This increases their perception, attention to detail and reaction time. Its like living in slow motion. This creates extreme stress on the person, it also weakens their body's immunity to KRY, a detox is necessary either during or directly after the rush dies off. This rush can last up to around 45 seconds. The person also has a high chance of passing out as it dies off. Restrictions: Only up to two gifts are allowed on your main character. You may only have ONE gifted NPC with you at a time along with up to 5 in total, meaning there can be six people including you in your "unit". ((I honestly cant think of much for this section, I'd like a wide variety, so if you'd like, you can come up with something of your own and if I approve it ill add it.)) Life Today Today we have a few places with running water and working electricity. People normally form small tight knit factions and just try to survive and re-build. But the world has also become a much harsher place. Every Faction seems to be at war in order to fight for what they think they need. There is a constant threat of ragged, zombie like people that succumbed to KRY and basically went mentally insane. They range from small groups to massive mobs of ruthless, mindless killing machines lost in their own little fantasies. This world is ruled by the gun. Enemys: KRYers: These are the people that have sucum to KRY. They are still very alive, but they've lost their grasp on reality. To them, you are someone or something way different then you really are. There have been mixed reports on what people have encountered. Some reports even claim that a group of KRYers fell in love with him and became his personal bodyguards. They are still people, but they are normally very dangerous. They are tipically seen with blood around their mouths. They are very thin and ragged looking. They are quick moving and have an advanced version of "The Eyes". They aren't thrown off by quickly moving objects like the normal eyes. They also have something Similar to numbness but it only kills their pain sensory system, nothing more. They very quick moving and at times attack with melee weapons. Some have been spotted using ranged weaponry (guns) as well, although this is very rare. Amethyst Rebels: This faction is known throughout most of the world as it is present basically everywhere. They are simply slavers. They raid camps, take the strongest people they can find, and then return home. After the captive are prepped (shaved head, basic clothing), they are strapped down and left there in front of a TV that continuously blurts out commands at them. Soon they turn into a trained KRYer. The Amethysts use them as weapons. The Amethysts are distinguished by a very unique tattoo, this is how they teach the KRYers friend from foe. [You can be a part of this.] Various Factions: Depending on your standing with other groups of people, they are friend or foe. Its your choice to decide. Important Locations: I.A.A. A medium sized organization in a large old sewer network. IAA stands for Integral Alcohol Allocation. It has had it's names changed numerous times but this is the 'final stage.' It houses at least 85% of all alcohol in the New York/ New Jersey area. They use this trait to trade and sell with various peoples and factions for weapons and supplies. It's location is secure, and only way to gain admission is by a long chain of command. It's one of those 'you gotta know someone' to get in. It's weapon store is limited. Containing mostly handguns with limited ammunition. That's why the IAA usually only trade with 'blind deals' where the client is told to leave the package at a location and in return the IAA leave theirs at a different location. When this doesn't work they move to more conventional 'You got the package?' deals. 'Tropolis? A large base located above ground. It was set up inside of a Science and Space museum and currently houses around 700 people. Its pretty well known for its scouting force. Small teams sent out to retrieve information about points of interest. The leaders of 'Tropolis are working to stabilize civilization, and are trying to find a real cure to KRY. It is a major weapons importer. It is also known for small shops where everything can basically be found. In order to get in you need a Trop. Delta Visa. There are two levels of clearance. Level one is a visitor's Visa, called a TDV-B. People with this can stay the night in a local "inn", trade with the merchants and such, but they cannot live there indefinitely. People with a TDV-A Visa hold residency in 'Tropolis. They are given a place to live but in return they have to work. You can get a visa just by simply taking a short evaluation and a very basic physical. Character: Code:
